Talking My new Maverick and the mods

Hi all,

As announced in this thread I now actually have the truck. I am as happy as a kid in a candystore.

Here it is:

Note the silver Alfa Romeo in the back. This is my old car and will be sold now.

Today the truck went to a glass specialist for foil tinting of the windows.

Additonal mods of the near future:
- Replace the factory radio with a 1Din navigation unit by Becker.
- Replace the interior mirror with a Donnelly EC mirror with temp and compass display
- chrome mirror caps
- side tubes
- chrome backdoor handle
- dash aluminium look
- yellow side indicator lights to be replaced by white ones
- bike rack
some more stuff.

I will keep posting into this thread about the progress I make.
Happy driving
Patrick

When I was living on the economy in Germany I wish I'd had an Tribute/Escape instead of the big gas guzzling BMW.

Talking The Mods

Hi all,

here is the current status of my Maverick. For these pictures I detailed the Maverick with Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax.

view from behind (view full size)

Mods:
- tinted windows (~20%)
- chrome tailgate handle
- removed XLT badge (funny thing. The Maverick is sold as "Limited", but comes actually with a XLT badge)

view from front (view full size)

Mods:
- chrome mirror caps
- 76mm sidebars polished stainless steel
- shorter black antenna

inside view (view full size)

Mods:
- silvery plastic application on center dashboard and window switches
- Electrochromatic mirror with compass and temp display. I followed the forum's opinion and went for a Donnelly.

Detail view of dashboard (view full size)

Detail view of window switch (view full size)

I hope you all like it. More will come in the next weeks.
All the best
Patrick

@figspice

here is a detail picture of the mirror caps

The cost in Germany (incl. installation) was 145 Euro for both caps. It's a regular Ford accessory, available at the Ford dealer.
Unfortunately, I do not have any idea about availability of this item in the US.
If your local dealer can't help you, try it with the next Mazda dealer. Probably they have such caps for the Tribute, which should fit the Escape/Maverick.

Thanks Patrick!
Do the caps just stick on or is there some other mounting?

figspice,

the caps are just glued to the mirror housing. The dealer explained to me, that they primed the plastic housing and then used a special glue. I do not know, if this stuff came with the caps or not.
