The New Look Of Ford MUSTANG!!! (Pics)
The New Look
__Of FORD MUSTANG!!!
Here are the first official photos of the next Mustang released to us from Ford Marketing! The new 'Stang will have it's official public debut this week at the Detroit auto show.
The amount of interest and hype around Ford's original ponycar is amazing considering General Motors has given up the pony-car fight, and left the American-built sports-car mass market to the people from Dearborn who created it over four decades ago.
Classic lines, modern themes
The All New Mustang:
... Not retro but "Heritage"...
Master designer J. Mays stresses that the new design is less of a retro theme and more "heritage" based. The intention to add back a few more retro/classic cues to America's original ponycar are based more on the desire to keep Ford's classic true to its lineage.
The hard-top model of Ford's all new pony/musclecar,which will be based on a modified DEW (Lincoln LS/Ford T-Bird) platform, will be a fastback much like the '65-66 Mustang 2+2, on which the fastback tapered off to a short rear deck. It will continue with a base (V-6), GT, and Cobra models, with styling evocative of the '67-'68s.
. . . Feburary Motor Trend . . .
The upcoming Feb. edition of Motor Trend magazine includes a cover story of Ford's new pony car, get your copy today! Ford's plans are that this new Mustang will not get annual or semi-regular facelifts--the '05's styling will last. There will be annual special models, like the '01 Bullitt and '03 Mach I. While both of those were based on the current GT, this time there will also be special editions off the new V-6, which is said to have a premium look, despite its base-car status.

The new Mustang will hit showrooms in about a year. The pictures shown here are prototypes. An official unveiling may coincide with the 40th anniversary of the original Mustang's April 17, 1964, debut. Since many of us here at Escape-Central have come from owning a Mustang to our Escapes, these Mustang developments still hold a sentimental place in our hearts and are likely to be looked at with much anticipation.
