CarTalk and the keyless remote

I was listening to cartalk on NPR this weekend when they were talking about the short range of some keyless entry devices. They brought up the idea of aiming at your chin as has been talked up here. They could not explain why it works but agreed that pointing it up at your chin will double the range.

I do this all the time and it works! You can turn off your alarm from across the parking lot! I guess your body acts like a big ol' antenna.

Can you increase the range with a cell phone this way?

With all the fillings in my teeth I could probably quadruple the distance.

I've been doing this for years. The Escape range with the dealer installed starter works great without this technique and has good range but my Ford F-150 is the worst. Putting the remote up to your chin does work ........... coincidently my hair also starting falling out around this time???
