Here's some info on the changes for the 2005 Escape:
EXTERIOR CHANGES

• New front and rear fascias
  
• New 15" XLS and 16" XLT aluminum wheels
  
• New round fog lamps and clear lens headlamps
  
• New Colors Added:
  Titanium Green Clearcoat Metallic (DV)
  Redfire Clearcoat Metallic (G2) -- now available on Limited series
  Norsea Blue Clearcoat Metallic (KR)
  Sonic Blue Clearcoat Metallic (SN)
  Silver Clearcoat Metallic (YN)
  
• Colors Deleted:
  Aspen Green Clearcoat Metallic
  Satin Silver Clearcoat Metallic
  True Blue Clearcoat Metallic

INTERIOR CHANGES

• New automatic transmission floor shifter
  
• New flow through center console with removable insert, front storage bin & power point
  
• Color keyed interior for XLT and Limited
  
• New cloth for XLT and new premium leather for Limited
  
• New message center located on the instrument panel -- standard on Limited; includes oil
  change reminder, fuel computer and warnings.
  
• New look for cluster gauges: warm steel-colored frames and black and white-faced gauges
  
• Rear seat enhancement: 60/40 split seat now standard on XLS series

FUNCTIONAL CHANGES

• New Duratec 23 - 2.3L I4 engine (147 hp NOTE: preliminary rating) (replaces Zetec 2.0L I4 engine) -- Now available with manual and automatic transmission
  
• New Intelligent 4WD System (replaces Control Trac II 4X4 System)
  
• Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) is now standard across all series
  
• Power 4-wheel disc brakes standard on V6 4WD arrays.

SAFETY CHANGES

• New optional side air canopy provides side impact head protection and rollover protection
  
• New rear center head restraint and center 3-point seat belt
  
• New personal Safety System

NEW PACKAGE CHANGES

XLT No Boundaries Package:

• Unique interior finishes including new unique cloth fabric for XLT No Boundaries Package
  
• New Molded-in-Color Silver Finish front and rear appearance skid plates !!!!

Ford Escape Breaking News

Great info!! We've added it to our Escape newscenter database!


Escape Redesign Goals:

• Freshened Facia
  Create a new look, but new look must continue to emphasize classic Ford family truck design cues
  
  
• Upgraded Interior and Exterior
  Including aforementioned new look facia, seat upgrades featuring new trim colors and materials
  
  
• New Model Marketing Mix
  Selective colors and new model specifications optimized for on-road driving performance and customer demand

To give an idea of what is possible regarding the new floor shifter coming to our Escapes, here is a picture from the auto show of the interior floor shifter to be included in the new Mercury Mariner. The Merc will be an Escape "cousin" and like the Tribute, the Mariner gets its own unique exterior look.

Darn! and I just bought my '04 Limited!!! Oh well, I'll just get the clear headlight kit and switch mine out. Dragon, where'd you get you info from? I was just at a ride and drive for the new truck and they had previewed the new cars and trucks for '05 and all that wasn't mentioned.

It's actually from Ford. I'm in the automotive distribution business.

Behr655 - Actually, all FIVE wheels can get dirty because they are also offering a FULL-SIZE Spare option!

Sounds like Ford is listening to it's customers !!
I'm looking forward to seeing the new ones, but It will be hard to beat the look of a Classic MWB !!
Me? I'll not trade 'til they put a 5 spd manny with the V6, or up the I4 to atleast 180 ponies.

Not to worry.... Raybestos will be making pads for the rear disk brakes too:smirk:

It's about time that Ford put some rotors in the rear. Drum brakes are so 1955

So they are adding 4 new colors and deleting 3. This puts us at back at 9 total colors available for our Escapes (same as 2003, one more than the 8 in 2004). But why does Ford see a need for 2 BLUE colors but still not even one Nanner or even trendy Copper?

i cant beleive that now they will make split bench a standard on xls! those b********! man! if i knew that i woulda waited -na i couldnt i love my ride way too much! i guess ill wait till 2006 and get a used one-again!=)if anyone knows how to convert a bench seat into a split bench lemme know_without takin a chainsaw to it =)thats the only thing that bugs me about my ride .ohhhhhhh well
